I just finished the B1 super-intensive course here, and I had a very positive experience. I had a few gaps in my knowledge from the A2 level, but I still found the course manageable and, for the most part, not too hard to understand—thanks to our teacher, Luca. We all understood all the topics, and I think the course is genuinely very effective.

My C1 German class instructor is open-minded. In addition to the textbook material, we often find ourselves discussing other interesting topics, which makes the Saturday class very enjoyable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Super-Intensive German Courses

Learn more about our German courses

The Super-Intensive Course is the most comprehensive regular German course format offered by ILS Basel. Classes are held in the mornings from Monday through Friday, allowing you to focus intensively on German every weekday. This is particularly suitable if you want to achieve a specific language goal within a short period of time.

Levels A1, A2, and B1 each last 6 weeks and consist of 120 lessons. Levels B2 and C1 are scheduled for 8 weeks and 160 lessons, respectively. Individual sub-levels can also be taken separately.

Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This gives you several hours of exposure to the German language every day. Because the classes are held so frequently, new material can be reviewed and built upon quickly.

This intensive program can be especially helpful if you need to learn German as quickly as possible for your daily life in Switzerland. Regular classes can help you build a basic vocabulary more quickly and handle typical communication situations with greater confidence.

Yes. You don't necessarily have to take an entire level. Levels A1.1 through B1.2 and B1+ each last 3 weeks and consist of 60 lessons. Levels B2.1 through C1.2 each last 4 weeks and consist of 80 lessons.

Yes. You can join a course in progress if your current level of German matches that of the group. You'll only pay for the lessons you actually book.

The Super-Intensive Course includes significantly more class time each day. The regular Intensive Course also takes place Monday through Friday, but consists of a shorter daily class block. The Super-Intensive Course is therefore particularly suitable for people who want as many German classes as possible within a short period of time.
