Is there an intensive German course in Basel in the afternoon?

Yes. The intensive afternoon course takes place Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This means that ILS Basel offers an alternative for people who don't have time for a language course in the morning.

For whom is an afternoon German class particularly convenient?

This format is ideal, for example, for people who have their afternoons free, part-time workers, students, parents, or those whose work schedules make it difficult to attend morning or evening classes. You’ll attend class four times a week, yet still have just one compact block of classes per day.

How long does each German proficiency level last in the afternoon intensive course?

A1, A2, and B1 each last 12 weeks and consist of 96 lessons. B2 and C1 each last 16 weeks and consist of 128 lessons. Individual sub-levels can also be taken separately.

As a beginner, can I take German classes in the afternoon?

Yes. The course is offered from A1 to C1. If you have no prior knowledge of German, you can start at the A1 level. If you have already studied German, we will first determine the appropriate starting level for you.

What is the advantage of an afternoon class over an evening class?

The intensive afternoon course meets four times a week, offering a more intensive learning schedule. A traditional evening course meets less frequently. The afternoon course is therefore particularly well-suited for people who are available during the day and want to make faster progress.

Can I still join the afternoon German class after it has started?

Yes. You can join courses that are already in session, provided your level matches that of the group. You only pay for the lessons you actually book.

What else can I do to learn German faster in the afternoon class?

Regular, brief review sessions outside of class can significantly support learning progress. ILS Basel provides homework assignments and exercises for self-study. In addition, everyday situations in Basel can be used as opportunities to actively practice German.
